6A Region 3 Preview: Lone Peak Has the 2027 Stars, Corner Canyon’s Young Wave Is Real
Region 3 was tight last winter. American Fork won it at 7-1 and reached the 6A semifinals. Lone Peak finished 4-4. Skyridge, Corner Canyon, and Lehi all went 3-5. The senior classes were heavy almost everywhere except Lone Peak’s headliners.
Off the 2026-27 board: Bryce Mella and Jax Clark (American Fork), Dillon Roberts and Tyler Mortensen (Corner Canyon), Carson Mosteller, Ryder Gentry, Joel Gardner, and Zach Gagon (Skyridge), Nate Rosenlof and Trevor Anderson (Lehi).
What changes the picture this fall: Corner Canyon adds Brayden and Brooklyn James, with Brayden a top-three name in the 2029 class, and Landon Mattice — also a 2029 — coming off a breakout summer that has scouts calling him one of the best shooters in the state. American Fork adds Preston White, a transfer from Pleasant Grove. Those moves possibly push both programs ahead of Lehi, but never count the Pioneers out of any games
What comes back
Lone Peak (15-11, 4-4)
Jayden Hughes and Cole Caton graduate. Almost everything that mattered stays. Crew Fotheringham (2027) averaged 15.6 points and 4.6 rebounds and sits at the top of Prep Hoops Utah’s 2027 list. Saxon Young (2027) averaged 16.1 points, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals. Camden Broadhead (2027, 8.1) and Logan Brimhall (2027, 6.9) are ranked too. Deepest returning group in 6A and Coach Ingles finds his team in familiar territory as an early favorite to win the title
Corner Canyon (12-13, 3-5)
Roberts (15.2) and Mortensen (11.7) are gone. Josh Tolman (2028) already averaged 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists and is a named Prep Hoops 2028 prospect. Manase “Mo” Brown (2027) scored 9.8 with size. Ty Kozlowski, as a freshman, put up 5.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists and is primed for a breakout season.
The Chargers are not waiting on the next class. They are already in it. Brayden James is a top-three 2029. Brooklyn James joins him. Landon Mattice, another 2029, had a breakout summer that has scouts saying he might be the best shooter in the state — and that he can start. Dan Lunt’s roster just went from a ranked young core to one of the most interesting groups in the classification. I expect them to be right there come state championship season
American Fork (18-8, 7-1, region champs)
Mella (16.9) and Clark (16.2) carried them last year. Both graduated, along with Ashton Hucks. Jax Oyler (2027) is back after 5.1 points and 2.5 assists. Dieter Tuitavuki and Lincoln Zimmerman are both top ranked 2028 names. Preston White, transferring in from Pleasant Grove, gives Ryan Cuff another piece in a year that already needed new production. That addition is probably enough to slide the Cavemen past Lehi on paper and, like LP and CC, into the state title conversation
Lehi (11-14, 3-5)
Rosenlof (11.3) and Anderson (10.3) graduate. Ashton Shewell (2027) is back after 21.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists — he is a top 5 player in his class with multiple Division 1 offers already. Tuk Howe (2027, 6-7) added 11.1 points and 3.7 rebounds and is one of the toughest matchups in the state. The Pioneers still have the best individual returning scorer in the region. The two teams above them just added more.
Skyridge (15-9, 3-5)
Mosteller (14.7), Gentry (14.5), Gardner (10.4), and Gagon (8.3) are all 2026 graduates. Koa Wallwork (2028) returns after 3.3 points and 2.5 assists in the rotation. Cohen Plewe and other 2027s give Jeff Gardner pieces. Heaviest reset in the region — and a chance for the next group to grow together.
Predicted finish
Lone Peak — Fotheringham and Young are two of the best 2027s in Utah.
Corner Canyon — Tolman, Brown, Kozlowski, plus Brayden James (top-three 2029), Brooklyn James, and Mattice, a 2029 who can shoot it with anybody.
American Fork — White’s arrival from Pleasant Grove, plus Tuitavuki and Zimmerman.
Lehi — Shewell is a 21-point 2027. Howe is a ranked wing. The additions above them matter.
Skyridge — Wallwork and the 2027/2028 group after four rotation seniors.
